What is a Dental Fissure Sealant?
7 Oct 2021
A fissure sealant is a thin, protective coating made from a tooth-coloured resin material. It is applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth—the molars and premolars—specifically into the deep grooves (fissures) and small hollows (pits) where decay often begins. Just as every person has a unique physical build, dental anatomy varies significantly between individuals. Some people have naturally deeper pits and fissures, which can make these teeth more susceptible to the accumulation of plaque and bacteria. Our dental practitioners or oral health therapists assess each patient’s teeth to determine if sealants are a suitable preventative measure.
Understanding and Managing Dental Anxiety
5 Oct 2021
Dental anxiety describes the feelings of apprehension or stress some individuals experience in a dental setting. These concerns vary between patients; they may stem from previous clinical experiences, a sensitivity to certain stimuli, or a general sense of unease regarding dental treatment. When anxiety leads to the avoidance of dental care, it can impact long-term oral health. At Bond St, we focus on providing a supportive clinical environment where patients feel heard and their concerns are addressed through open communication.
Understanding Dental Implants: Procedure and Considerations
4 Oct 2021
While maintaining natural teeth is always the primary goal of dental care, dental implants offer a reliable option for patients who have missing teeth or require extractions.
Digital Smile Design: A Collaborative Approach to Treatment Planning
3 Oct 2021
Modern restorative dentistry focuses on precision and patient collaboration. At Bond St, we utilise Digital Smile Design (DSD) as a comprehensive planning concept to help patients understand their restorative options before treatment commences.
A Patient’s Guide to Dental Crowns
1 Oct 2021
A dental crown is a custom-fitted restoration designed to encase a tooth that has been weakened by decay, fracture, or large existing fillings. At Bond St, we utilise crowns to support the structural integrity of a tooth while focusing on a natural appearance.
Understanding Tooth Enamel Loss and Preservation
1 Oct 2021
Tooth enamel is the outermost layer of the tooth—the visible part that protects the inner structures. Enamel is the hardest substance in the human body, designed to shield the more vulnerable layers underneath. Maintaining a healthy layer of enamel is essential for supporting tooth strength and reducing the risk of sensitivity, fractures, and decay.
